The book Pour Ceux traces the career of the main actors of the graffiti scene from the Val de Marne, from its appearance in the 80s until 2005, date of the democratization of the use of digital and social networks. This book re-contextualizes the so-called “Parisian” movement by demonstrating the decisive role of the South-East suburbs. As its title suggests, it aims to restore the movement as it was in its entirety and diversity. For the first time a book will deal with tags, graffiti on train but also frescoes. More than 85 key players in the graffiti scene were met.
All 1000 silver photos of the book are published for the first time. They come from photo albums that have withstood time, bad weather, fire, water damage, theft, removals and searches. Some also come from archives of professional photographers with an interest in this artistic, popular and social movement. The realization of a photo book is an ambitious project, especially when it is around 600 pages. In order to best restore the strength of these shots the publisher chosed a large format, 22cm x 26cm, and a superior quality paper.
For the publishers it was essential to publish this archival work and make it available to all those who have an interest in the appearance and evolution of French graffiti.
