The Dutch city of Almere has a rich graffiti and youth culture since its inception. The publication ‘De Muur and other spots. Graffiti in Almere’ paints a picture of the development of graffiti in Almere from 1986 to 2008. The book contains interviews with and anecdotes of graffiti writers from Almere of the past 25 years, including TIMER / AIR, AGRES, FRIEK, LOEKIE, SPECS, MABE and 21 GRAMS. In addition, MC Raymzter, and (former) employees of the Almere police, the Municipality of Almere and Stichting De Schoor will also speak. De Muur is one of the important legal graffiti spots in Almere, an initiative of youth worker René Kempenaar (R.I.P.). Obviously attention for this place, but the book also contains a lot of (full color) photo material of graffiti that was made elsewhere in Almere.
