Description

Title: The Lines Don’t Lie
Authors: Nicholas Gervin, Mishelle Ferris. Foreword by Ichabod.
Paperback
Country: USA
Published: 2019
Language: English
Pages: 192
Dimensions: 21.5 x 28 x 1.4 cm. / 8.5 x 11x 0.5 inch.

The first publication of its kind to solely showcase the contemporary freight-train graffiti subculture photographed along the rail lines of New England, the book is also packed with trackside productions, missions in nearby tunnels, and life (and death) at the gravel’s edge. It is an unbiased look at not only who is the “most up”, but who is out there attempting this art form at all. Archival sections include contributions from Spek, Sept, and Learn. Among the hundreds of photographs are wisdoms and witticisms from twenty-five graffiti writers, along with insights from railworkers, and a foreword by legendary writer, Ichabod.

Featuring pieces by over 224 writers, including:

4EVER, ACET, ADMIT, AGENT, AGREE, AKEY, ALKE, ALMOST, ANSR, APER, AREK, AROE, ARSN, AVES, AWAL, BACK, BALE, BALSE, BEAF, BEAN, BEER, BERN, BERTH, BONUS, BUDA, BUSY, BYAS, CAVS, CENT, CERE, CEVEN, CF.ONE, CHES, CHETS, CHUNE, CINEMA, CLYDE, COKES, COUPE, CRES, CUATE, CURLS, CURSE, CUTZ, DAYZ, DFASE, DISKO, DMEN, DPONE, DR. Nicholas Gervin: “It’s with that same enthusiasm and dedication that I approached this project. In all sorts of weather (rain, shine, and blizzards), I made these photographs with the intention of faithfully documenting who’s up on the boxcars that run along the North East lines. With obly 190 pages I was not able to publish each piece I came across. By no means this is an exact recording of the culture as a whole, but simply a window into this small corner of the vast rail network. So, the next time you hear the train chugging down the tracks and the bells of the rail-gates closing, don’t forget to take a closer look at the rolling exhibition.”
